Youth Protection Training

Because of the great concern the Boy Scouts of America has for the problem of child abuse in our society, the Youth Protection Program has been developed to help safeguard both youth and adult members. Old Baldy Council maintains an active Youth Protection Training Program designed to give parents and their children basic information that will increase their awareness and sense of power to assist in their own self-protection.

Youth Protection Training is conducted during all Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturing Basic training courses. Furthermore, the Commissioner Service can provide individual units this training upon request. In addition, training tapes for youth members are available for check-out at the Council Service Center.

As part of the National Quality Unit Award requirements, one registered adult in the unit must be assigned responsibility for unit Youth Protection Training. In addition, this training is required by the National Council for adult leaders attending National Council events and camps.
