  Learning for Life

Learning for Life
is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Boy Scouts of America.  The mission of Learning for Life is to serve others by helping to instill values of good character, participating citizenship, and personal fitness on young people, and in other ways to prepare them to make ethical choices throughout their lives so that they can achieve their full potential.  Learning for Life can help schools prepare students to handle today's complex society.  It's designed to build confidence, motivation, and self reliance.

Learning for Life entered was developed by professional educators and child-development experts.  The program has been implemented in more than 20,000 schools and community organizations nationwide since its inception in 1991.

The Learning for Life school-to-careers program has three basic components:  school-based learning, connecting activities, and work-based learning.  Combined, these three components provide a structure through which youth learn the value of respect and responsibility while discovering a world of career opportunities.

Work-based Learning
The Work-based portion of Learning for Life builds on character lessons and brings the world of work alive by offering youth participants an opportunity to learn firsthand about career fields through the Exploring program.

Connecting Activities
Connecting the community with educational institutions is one important hallmark of Learning for Life.  By involving local organizations, businesses, and industry, the program helps build relationships between schools and communities.  This collaboration provides additional resources and opportunities for youth, educators, and schools.
