The Objective
The objective of the Buckskin Conference is to train Boy Scouts so that they will become better leaders. Through the conference, we strive to produce boys who can lead their troops to achieve the highest quality Scouting program possible.
The Method
The Buckskin Conference is a week long training course for Boy Scouts. The course is conducted at Holcomb Valley Scout Reservation, under the auspices of the council training chairman. During the conference, boys are assigned to patrols where they learn leadership skills in a practical Scouting environment. At the conclusion of the week, the boys return to their home troops where, over the next six months, they must apply what they've learned. Upon satisfactory completion of this application phase, the boys then earn the right to be called "Buckskin Men." |
